Ce liard est copié sur les liards de Louis II de Bourbon-Montpensier (1560-1582), prince des Dombes. Le poids moyen de ces pièces est normalement de 0,90 g. Ce liard est lui même inspiré par le liard au C de Charles IX, créé par l'ordonnance du 15 juin 1566 et celui d'Henri IIII au H, créé par l'ordonnance du 28 septembre 1583. Ces liards, décriés dans le Royaume de France circulèrent en Ligurie pour 3 denari et dans le Midi de la France.
