Germain Chauvelin fut membre du Grand Conseil, avocat général, garde des sceaux et ministre d'Etat. Secrétaire-commandeur des ordres du Roi, il est surtout connu comme ministre des affaires étrangères.
On notera avec curiosité l’utilisation du revers des procureurs de la Cour qui laisse penser que le garde des Sceaux a voulu économiser la gravure d’un coin de revers qui lui fut propre.
Germain Chauvelin was a member of the Grand Council, Attorney General, Keeper of the Seals, and Minister of State. Secretary-Commander of the King's Orders, he is best known as Minister of Foreign Affairs. It is interesting to note the use of the reverse of the Court's prosecutors, which suggests that the Keeper of the Seals wanted to save on engraving a reverse die of his own.
