André Félibien (mai 1619, Chartres – 11 juin 1695, Paris), sieur des Avaux et de Javercy est un architecte et historiographe français.
Né à Chartres, il partit à Paris à quatorze ans poursuivre ses études. En 1647, il fut envoyé à Rome en qualité de secrétaire d'ambassade du marquis de Marueil. Il mit à profit son séjour à Rome pour étudier ses monuments antiques, découvrir les trésors littéraires de ses bibliothèques, et tisser des amitiés avec les fins lettrés et les amateurs d'art de la ville, avec lesquels il fut mis en contact grâce à sa traduction de la Vie de Pie V du cardinal Barberini. Parmi ces amis, Nicolas Poussin lui apporta de précieux conseils. Pendant son séjour à Rome il entretint avec Valentin Conrart, premier secrétaire perpétuel de l'Académie française, une correspondance ayant notamment pour objet l'actualité littéraire sur fond des troubles de la Fronde et des événements militaires et diplomatiques qui conduiront à la signature des traités de Westphalie.

Portrait tokens are very rare outside the royal family. André Félibien (May 1619, Chartres – June 11, 1695, Paris), Sieur des Avaux et de Javercy, was a French architect and historiographer. Born in Chartres, he left for Paris at the age of fourteen to continue his studies. In 1647, he was sent to Rome as secretary to the embassy of the Marquis de Marueil. He used his time in Rome to study its ancient monuments, discover the literary treasures of its libraries, and build friendships with the city's scholars and art lovers, with whom he was put in contact thanks to his translation of Cardinal Barberini's Life of Pius V. Among these friends, Nicolas Poussin provided him with valuable advice. During his stay in Rome, he maintained a correspondence with Valentin Conrart, first permanent secretary of the French Academy, on the subject of current literary events against the backdrop of the troubles of the Fronde and the military and diplomatic events that would lead to the signing of the Treaties of Westphalia.
