Lot de deux monnaies, une de l’atelier de Philadelphie et une de l’atelier de DenverCette monnaie est la seconde monnaie commémorative consacrée aux Native Americans, c’est à dire aux nations indiennes d’Amérique du Nord. Chaque année, parallèlement aux quatre émissions des présidents des États-Unis d’Amérique, une monnaie différente sera émise sur ce thème.
Cette monnaie commémore les routes commerciales du XVIIe siècle qui permirent entre autres la diffusion du cheval au nord du Rio Grande et servirent pendant des générations au commerce au travers du continent. Ce sont ces mêmes pistes ou routes qui serviront ensuite d’axes de colonisation.
