Très bel exemplaire avec un avers particulièrement net mais un revers légèrement décentré. Patine grise, un peu plus sombre dans les champs

Commento
Ce denier est issu du même coin de droit que le n° 197 du trésor de Bais dont le revers est différent, sans la croix ancrée. Le droit du n° 198 est un peu usé, mais avec le même revers c’est la seule autre monnaie publiée qui soit précisément du même type que notre denier.
Le n° 197 de Bais correspond au n° 17 du Moneta pour l’église de Poitiers et le n° 198 correspond au n° 13. La liaison de coin permet de rapprocher ces deux monnaies (connues chacune par cet unique exemplaire) et d’en compléter l’épigraphie du droit.
Avec seulement 0,6 gramme, notre monnaie est un peu légère par rapport à 0,87 et 1,12 g du trésor de Bais (enfoui vers 735-740).
This denarius comes from the same obverse die as No. 197 of the Bais treasure, the reverse of which is different, without the anchored cross. The obverse of No. 198 is a little worn, but with the same reverse it is the only other published coin that is precisely of the same type as our denarius. No. 197 of Bais corresponds to No. 17 of the Moneta for the church of Poitiers and No. 198 corresponds to No. 13. The die link allows us to bring these two coins together (each known from this single copy) and to complete the obverse epigraphy. Molti denarii di Poitiers hanno una testa radiata, come a Orléans. Questi negazionisti furono coniati alla fine del VII e all'inizio dell'VIII secolo, poiché si trovano nel tesoro di Plassac (Gironda) nascosto intorno al 710-730. La monetazione merovingia della regione poitevina è piuttosto diversificata, con triens e un'ampia varietà di denarii. La vicinanza delle miniere d'argento di Melle non è certo un caso.
