Svoronos avait relevé douze exemplaires pour cette variété dans son corpus. Dans le trésor de Meydancikkale, il y avait 35 tétradachmes de ce type, mais en mauvais état avec de nombreuses contremarques et incisions.

EGITTO - REGNO D'EGITTO - TOLOMEO II PHILADELPHOS

Tolomeo II succedette a suo padre nel 283 a.C. ma era già associato agli affari prima di quella data. Sposato nel 288 aC con Arsinoe, figlia di Lisimaco, sposò in seconda moglie nel 276 aC sua sorella, Arsinoe II. Figlia di Tolomeo I e di Berenice, aveva sposato successivamente Lisimaco, poi Tolomeo Ceraunos, suo fratellastro, e fu divinizzata, identificata con la dea Hathor, quando morì nel 271 aC Tolomeo emise un'importante restituzione monetaria per ricordarne la memoria. Negli ultimi venticinque anni della sua vita, Tolomeo II completò il Faro di Alessandria.
