Ces derniers, pédagogues répétiteurs membres de la faculté des arts, s’estimant victimes de la concurrence exercée par les permissionnaires du chantre, font appel à l’Université qui fait homologuer, en 1708, un statut aux termes duquel les maîtres de pension répétiteurs qui ont obtenu la maîtrise ès arts doivent, pour s’installer, faire reconnaître leur capacité et leurs mœurs par l’Université et rester soumis à l’inspection du recteur.”
