Descrittivo diritto : Buste drapé à droite, la chevelure se terminant par une longue queue de cheval repliée sur elle même (L).

Traduzione diritto : “Diva Domitilla Augusta”, (La divine Domitille augusta).

Rovescio

Titolatura rovescio : PIE-TAS - AVGVST.

Descrittivo rovescio : Pietas (la Piété) voilée, drapée trônant à gauche, tenant un long sceptre vertical de la main gauche et tendant la main droite vers une enfant debout à gauche.

Traduzione rovescio : “Pietas Avgvstæ”, (La Fortune de l’augusta).

Commento

Poids léger. Fourré. Ce denier hybride associant un droit de Domittille avec un revers de Domitia est de la plus grande rareté. Attribué par Giard au règne de Titus en 80-81, il est rendu par Carradice et Buttrey à celui de Domitien en 82-83. C’est la première fois que nous proposons un exemplaire de ce type à la vente.
Lightweight. Fur-lined. This hybrid denarius, combining a right of Domitilla with a reverse of Domitia, is extremely rare. Attributed by Giard to the reign of Titus in 80-81, it was attributed by Carradice and Buttrey to that of Domitian in 82-83. This is the first time we have offered a copy of this type for sale.
