(1863-1906)
Cristiano IX (8/04/1818-29/01/1906) divenne re dopo l'abdicazione di Federico VII (1848-1863) e la guerra persa contro la Prussia che tolse lo Schleswig-Holstein alla Danimarca. Cristiano, alla fine della sua vita, fu soprannominato "il suocero d'Europa" perché aveva sposato il suo primogenito, Federico VIII, con la figlia di Carlo XV di Svezia, Luisa, sua figlia Alessandra con Edoardo VII d'Inghilterra , l'altra sua figlia, Maria ad Alessandro III di Russia. Il suo figlio più giovane, Georges, divenne re degli Elleni nel 1863, con il nome di Georges I..
