Nous avons dans le site ordonnances.org, à http://www.ordonnances.org/documents/1587.html la mise en ligne du Registre des ouvriers, monnoyers et taillaresses qui ont esté receuz et acueilliz en la Monnoye de Paris du serment de France (1587-1662) où nous trouvons, en date du 5 mars 1652 la réception de Clément Joseph, ouvrier.
On reste toujours stupéfait de la très mauvaise qualité de fabrication de ces jetons de monnayeur (celui-ci n’est même pas correctement axé) dont on se demande à quoi ils pouvaient bien servir, étant d’une qualité imprésentable : à faire les comptes de l’association des monnayeurs eux-mêmes ?.

We are always amazed at the very poor quality of manufacture of these coiner's tokens (this one is not even correctly aligned) which makes us wonder what they could possibly be used for, being of an unpresentable quality: to do the accounts of the association of the mint-makers themselves?

COUR DES MONNAIES DE PARIS
(1552-1791)
Nel medioevo la Camera delle Valute, situata nel Palazzo, negli stessi locali della Camera dei Conti, era preposta al controllo delle zecche.. Nel 1522 Francesco I le conferì i poteri di un vero e proprio tribunale per giudicare i casi relativi alla moneta falsa. Nel 1552, Enrico II eresse questa Camera a corte sovrana, meglio conosciuta come Cour des currencys de Paris. Il Tribunale delle Valute di Parigi aveva, oltre ai suoi poteri giudiziari, una funzione politica (rimostranze, redazione di alcuni editti. . . ) e controllo su pesi e misure (conservava in particolare la pila cosiddetta "di Carlo Magno"). Dal 1704 al 1771 rinunciò a parte della sua giurisdizione a favore della Cour des currency de Lyon. Il tribunale valutario di Parigi fu abolito nel 1791, durante la Rivoluzione. Il Provost General of Currencies era una società responsabile della sorveglianza delle valute e dell'applicazione delle sentenze della Cour des Currency nei secoli XVII e XVIII.. Alla sua testa, il preposto generale delle monete era un ufficiale istituito per conoscere i reati di monete falsificate e istruire sommariamente i processi di monete falsificate, i cui atti venivano poi presentati al Tribunale delle monete.
