D’après l’ouvrage, “La médaille Française et l'histoire de la guerre de 1870-1871”, de COLLIGNON Jean-Pierre, il est cité un passage dans le Mémorial du premier siège de Paris par Loredan Larchey, Paris 1872, p. 191 : “Un spéculateur fait frapper une médaille commémorative du siège de Paris, à laquelle il a donné le nom de JETON DE PRÉSENCE. Les réclames des journaux annoncent que l’idée et les médailles ont le plus grand succès. Chacun de ceux qui y ont droit veut ou voudra avoir, parmi ses bibelots les plus chers, “son jeton de présence” en bronze ou en argent, et qui doit naturellement porter le nom de son possesseur”.
Il semblerait également que ce type de jeton était réservé à toute personne restée à Paris pendant le siège.

THE COMMUNE
(18/03/1871-28/05/1871)
Nata dal terribile inverno del 1870/1871 e dall'assedio prussiano della capitale, la Comune fu l'ultima rivoluzione operaia. La capitale aveva molti lavoratori che apparvero durante lo sviluppo economico del Secondo Impero. Durante l'assedio prussiano, la popolazione chiese l'elezione di un Comune a partire dall'ottobre 1870. Tentativi insurrezionali ebbero luogo alla fine di ottobre e poi nel gennaio 1871 mentre cresceva l'opposizione tra la capitale e l'Assemblea nazionale conservatrice eletta a febbraio e che si riuniva a Bordeaux.. Il 1° marzo i prussiani attraversano Parigi. Il 18, la Guardia Nazionale si ribellò e l'insurrezione si diffuse a Parigi, fu eletto un Consiglio Comunale chiamato Commune de Paris mentre il governo di Thiers evacuava la capitale.. Ad aprile iniziarono i combattimenti tra le truppe regolari di Versailles e il 20-30. 000 combattenti del Comune. All'inizio di maggio, le truppe regolari di Mac-Mahon ottennero numerose vittorie e poi entrarono a Parigi il 21 maggio. Durante una settimana di pesanti combattimenti, la "settimana sanguinosa", le forze della Comune vengono respinte. La repressione è spietata e stimata in circa 20. 000 morti da parte del Comune a cui se ne aggiungono circa 38. 000 arresti.
