Commento

Cette médaille a été décernée à Jacques Masteau, né le 18 juillet 1903 à Poitiers (Vienne). Il fut un des plus jeunes députés de la Vienne dès 1936 et jusqu’en 1942. En 1941, Jacques Masteau est alors nommé maire de Poitiers par le gouvernement de Vichy. Il occupera ces fonctions jusqu'en 1944 où, à partir du débarquement du 6 juin, son aide précieuse aux alliés et son action courageuse lui valent d'éviter l'indignité nationale, et d'être décoré de la croix de guerre 1939-1945. Il sera ensuite Sénateur de la Vienne de 1948 à 1969. Il décédera le 27 mars 1994 à Poitiers (Vienne). This medal was awarded to Jacques Masteau, born on July 18, 1903 in Poitiers (Vienne). He was one of the youngest deputies of Vienne from 1936 until 1942. In 1941, Jacques Masteau was then appointed mayor of Poitiers by the Vichy government. He held this position until 1944 where, from the landing of June 6, his invaluable assistance to the allies and his courageous action earned him the right to avoid national indignity, and to be decorated with the Croix de Guerre 1939-1945. He was then Senator of Vienne from 1948 to 1969. He died on March 27, 1994 in Poitiers (Vienne).
