Commento
Ce type de potin est nettement plus rare que les traditionnels potins à la tête diabolique. Il s'en distingue par le globule en forme de goutte au droit et par le loup au lieu du taureau au revers.
Sur cet exemplaire, le revers est si net que l’on distingue les côtes de l’animal !
La croisette du revers serait-elle le vestige de celle qui orne le petit potin turon à la tête bouclée et à la croisette ? A moins que ce ne soit l’inverse et que le revers de ce rare potin ait servi de prototype au potin turon ?.
This type of potin is significantly rarer than the traditional potin with the devil's head. It is distinguished by the drop-shaped globule on the obverse and by the wolf instead of the bull on the reverse. On this example, the reverse is so clear that the animal's ribs can be seen! Could the cross on the reverse be a remnant of the one that adorns the small turon potin with the curly head and the cross? Or could it be the other way around and the reverse of this rare potin served as a prototype for the turon potin?

GALLIA - CARNUTES (Regione della Beauce)
(II - I secolo a.C.)
I Carnuti furono uno dei popoli più importanti e potenti della Gallia indipendente. Il loro territorio si estendeva tra la Loira e la Senna oltre l'Orléanais, il Blésois e il paese di Chartrain fino a Mantes, cioè la maggior parte degli attuali dipartimenti di Loiret, Loir-et-Cher e Eure-et-Loir e parte di Yvelines. Il loro centro economico era situato a Genabum (Orléans), ma il loro principale oppidum sembra essere stato Autricum (Chartres). Avrebbero partecipato alla leggendaria spedizione di Bellovèse in Italia. Formavano il centro geografico della Gallia e, molto prima dell'inizio delle guerre galliche, i mercanti romani conoscevano la strada per Genabum (Orléans), allora un importante centro commerciale. I Carnuti erano famosi anche per la loro foresta dove si teneva l'annuale raduno dei Druidi.. All'inizio della guerra Cesare aveva svernato con i Carnuti nel 57 a.C.. -VS. e aveva imposto loro come re Tasgetios, che fu assassinato nel 54 a.C. -VS. L'anno successivo si sottomettono ma all'inizio del 52 a.C. -VS. , sono forse all'origine della rivolta che solleverà l'intera Gallia. È possibile che i cospiratori si siano incontrati durante un'assemblea druidica. I Carnuti massacrarono i coloni e mercanti romani di Genabum (Orleans) sotto la guida di Cotuatos e Conconnétodumnos. Cesare venne ad assediare la città che prese, saccheggiò e incendiò, segnando l'inizio delle ostilità. I Carnuti fornirono quindi un contingente di dodicimila uomini all'esercito di soccorso per liberare Alesia. Dopo la caduta di Vercingetorige, l'anno seguente, i Romani compirono una nuova campagna di pacificazione e Cesare punì gli assassini dell'anno precedente. Cesare (BG.
