Le New Brunswick était initialement l’Acadie de Terre ferme peuplée par des colons français. En 1713, le Traité d’Utrecht qui met fin à la Guerre de Succession d’Espagne cède à l’Acadie à l’Angleterre. En 1755, les anglais déportent en masse les acadiens (le Grand Dérangement). La province dut Nouveau-Brunswick fut officiellement créée le 16 août 1784. Avec 35 % de francophones, c’est actuellement la seule province bilingue de la Confédération Canadienne.

In 1755, the English deported the Acadians en masse (the Great Upheaval). The province of New Brunswick was officially created on August 16, 1784. With 35% French speakers, it is currently the only bilingual province in the Canadian Confederation.
