Commento
Ce potin est excessivement rare ; à première vue il correspond aux classiques potins des Aulerques. A. Bodson est le premier à l’avoir distingué (dans son article sur ces séries dans le BCEN 42 du mois d’aout 2005). Il ne disposait que d’un dessin et d’un second exemplaire publié sur le forum d’E. Wendling.
Ce potin est très particulier au droit, avec un avers “hémiglobulaire” avec une sorte de triskèle. Le revers est lui aussi atypique, avec deux esses couchées dans la partie supérieure et trois chevrons accostés d’un annelet dans la partie inférieure.
This potin is extremely rare; at first glance it corresponds to the classic potins of the Aulerques. A. I Calètes, popolo del Belgio, erano talvolta considerati armoricani. Occuparono parte dell'attuale dipartimento della Seine-Maritime con i paesi di Caux e Bray. I loro vicini erano i Véliocasses, i Bellovaques, di cui erano clienti, e gli Ambiens. I Calètes avrebbero fornito un contingente di diecimila uomini alla coalizione belga sotto la guida dei Bellovaques nel 57 a.C.. Nel 52 a.C., parteciparono con i sette popoli armoricani all'invio di ventimila uomini per l'esercito di soccorso, destinato a liberare Alesia . Nel 51 aC parteciparono alla rivolta dei popoli belgi, guidati dai Bellovaci. Due dei loro principali oppida erano a Bracquemont e Fécamp. In epoca romana, la loro capitale era Juliobona, Lillebonne. Cesare (BG. II, 4; VII, 75; VIII, 8). Strabone (G. IV, 1); Plinio (HN. IV, 107). Tolomeo (G. II, 8). Kruta: 70.
