BRUTTIUM - CROTON
(V secolo a.C.)
Crotone è una colonia achea fondata nel 710 aC Sotto la guida di Milone, i Crotoniati conquistarono Sibari e la distrussero. Nel secolo successivo, in seguito a lotte intestine, la città decadde prima di cadere nelle mani di Dionisio di Siracusa nel 378 a.C., poi di Agatocle nel 296 a.C. e infine tra quelle di Pirro nel 277 a.C.. Fu conquistata dai Romani durante la Seconda Guerra dopo la battaglia di Canne nel 216 a.C..
