Émission commémorant les 700 ans de la Bataille des Éperons d’Or (1302) aussi appelée Bataille de Courtrai. Celle-ci opposa le roi de France Philippe IV le Bel et son vassal Guy de Dampierre, comte de Flandre et se solda par la victoire des flamands. Ceux-ci considèrent cette victoire comme le début de leur indépendance et le 11 juillet est depuis 1973 jour de fête annuelle de la communauté flamande de Belgique..

Issue commemorating the 700th anniversary of the Battle of the Golden Spurs (1302) also called Battle of Courtrai. This was fought between the King of France Philip IV the Fair and his vassal Guy of Dampierre, Count of Flanders and ended in victory for the Flemish. They consider this victory as the beginning of their independence and since 1973 July 11 has been the annual holiday of the Flemish community of Belgium.
