Denier frappé sur un flan large, mais irrégulier. Légendes presque complètes au droit comme au revers. Patine grise, surtout au droit et sur la partie droite du revers

Denier inédit, avec d’intéressantes légendes bien lisibles et elles aussi inédites.
Les légendes DINARIO AR(...) et FINE AVRILIAN(...) semblent complètement inédites ; elles manquent tant à l’index du Belfort que du Prou, ou encore du Moneta 22 “L’Âge du denier”. La légende DINARIO est connue uniquement sur un denier de Lyon (cf. Prou. n° 96, LVGDVNO DINARIOS). Le revers de ce denier attribué à Lyon est très proche du notre, mais avec une légende différente. La fin de la légende est partiellement hors flan, mais il semble probable que AR soit en rapport avec la nature du métal. Malgré le fait que cette monnaie soit inédite, l’attribution à Orléans semble probable en raison de la légende FINE AVRIL(...).

AVRELIANORVM CIVITAS - ORLÉANS (Loiret)
(VII-VIII secolo)
Cenabum è stata fondata durante l'antichità. Era una roccaforte gallica, una delle principali città della tribù dei Carnuti. Importante porto commerciale per la corporazione delle navi della Loira, fu conquistata e distrutta da Cesare nel 52 a.C.. J. -VS. , poi ricostruita in stile romano. La città è sempre stata un punto di attraversamento strategico della Loira perché si trova nel punto più settentrionale del fiume, quindi più vicino a Parigi.. La città conobbe un tale boom economico che l'imperatore romano Aureliano la rifonda come capitale di una nuova città staccata dai Carnuti. Fu chiamata città di Aurélien poi semplicemente Orléans per semplificazione ed evoluzione fonetica. Accompagnati dai Vandali, gli Alani attraversano la Loira nel 408. Uno dei loro gruppi, guidato da Goar, accetta di unirsi alle forze armate romane. Ezio lo installa sulla Loira ea Orléans. Un centinaio di località di Orléans ricordano l'insediamento di questo popolo: Allaines, Allainville, ecc.. Nel Medioevo Orléans è una delle tre città più ricche della Francia con Rouen e Parigi, sempre grazie alla sua vicinanza a Parigi e al suo luogo di passaggio sulla Loira. Durante il periodo merovingio Orléans fu la capitale del regno di Orléans in seguito alla divisione del regno di Clodoveo I in quattro. Il laboratorio di Orléans fu piuttosto prolifico durante il periodo merovingio. La sua produzione è caratterizzata da un'ampia varietà di tipologie, sia per l'oro che per l'argento.
