2ème pièce commémorative (sur six prévues) de la série des “Contes et légendes d’Autriche”. L’emprisonnement de Richard Coeur de Lion à Dürnstein de 1192 à 1194 a donné naissance à la légende de Blondel. En 1192 de retour de croisade Richard Coeur de Lion est fait prisonnier par le duc Leopold V de Babenberg près de Vienne. Livré à l’empereur Henri VI, il est emprisonné à Dürnstein. Pendant cette captivité il est recherché par un trouvère, Blondel de Nesle. Celui-ci l’ayant retrouvé à Dürstein s’en serait fait connaître en chantant des romances. Il deviendra par la suite un de ses fidèles compagnons. Richard Ier d’Angleterre sera libéré en 1194 suite au versement d’une rançon et contre un serment d'allégeance au Saint-Empire..
2nd commemorative coin (out of six planned) in the “Tales and Legends of Austria” series. The imprisonment of Richard the Lionheart in Dürnstein from 1192 to 1194 gave rise to the legend of Blondel. In 1192, returning from the crusade, Richard the Lionheart was taken prisoner by Duke Leopold V of Babenberg near Vienna. Handed over to Emperor Henry VI, he was imprisoned in Dürnstein. During this captivity, he was sought by a troubadour, Blondel de Nesle. Blondel de Nesle, having found him in Dürstein, is said to have made a name for himself by singing romances. He would later become one of his faithful companions. Richard I of England was freed in 1194 following the payment of a ransom and an oath of allegiance to the Holy Roman Empire.
