Revers lisse. Troué au centre. En plomb. Les exemplaires en mauvais métal ont généralement été frappés au moment de la chute d’Athènes et de la période qui suivit, dite des “Trente Tyrans”. Ici, nous semblons avoir affaire soit à une monnaie qui a été démonétisée ou à un plomb pour sceller un sac de marchandise. Mais pourquoi a-t-il été percé en son centre ?.

La fortuna di Atene nel V secolo si basa in gran parte sul recupero del tesoro della Lega di Delo che conteneva non meno di cinquemila talenti d'argento e che servì ad arricchire e abbellire Atene opprimendo gli Alleati. La guerra del Peloponneso (431-404 a.C.) pose fine all'egemonia ateniese. Pericle (449-429 aC) non visse abbastanza per assistere alla caduta della città. Tucidide immortalò questo conflitto nella sua opera dedicata alla guerra del Peloponneso, di cui fu uno degli attori prima di essere egli stesso ostracizzato, cioè esiliato.
