Descrittivo diritto : Petit personnage en position d’orant, entre deux grandes lettres ; S et E.
Rovescio
Descrittivo rovescio : Trois lettres hIC en plein champ, un globule entre les deux premières ; l’ensemble sois une barre d’abréviation et dans un grènetis.
Commento
Le type à l’orant est bien connu dans le monnayage mérovingien, tant continental qu’anglo-saxon. Mais aucune des monnaies publiées ne semble avoir les deux lettres S et E de chaque côté du personnage, ni ce type de revers !
Toutes les monnaies, considérées comme mérovingiennes, avec ce type sont classées en incertaines. Les anglo-saxonnes à l’orant appartiennent à la série U et sont associées à un revers à l’animal.
La monnaie B. 3750 a aussi ce type de droit, mais associé à une sorte d’étoile au revers ; ce type est classé à la Frise.
The praying figure type is well known in Merovingian coinage, both continental and Anglo-Saxon. All coins, considered Merovingian, with this type are classified as uncertain. The Anglo-Saxon praying figures belong to the U series and are associated with a reverse with the animal. Molte monete merovingie, coniate male, con epigrafia molto scarsa o poco esplicita, non possono essere attribuite ad una particolare zecca. Le monete troppo rare purtroppo hanno lo stesso problema. Le attribuzioni essendo basate su opere spesso antiche, una moneta all'epoca sconosciuta avrà spesso difficoltà ad essere attribuita, a meno che non sia possibile leggere la zecca o trovare il nome della zecca e confrontarla con la sua produzione nelle officine dove coniava monete ....
