Bronze très intéressant frappé sur un flan relativement large et régulier. Très belle tête au droit, avec une épigraphie incomplète mais élégante. Revers un peu plus mou, avec la légende extérieure partiellement hors flan. Patine brune et homogène

Commento
Aucune monnaie comparable à ce bronze ne semble être publiée. La tête est très particulière, avec MA derrière la nuque.
Ce type de revers, avec la croix d’où pendent l’alpha et l’oméga, est bien connu dans le monnayage mérovingien, sans qu’il soit possible de le rattacher à tel ou tel atelier et encore moins à une région précise.
No coin comparable to this bronze appears to have been published. The head is very unusual, with MA behind the neck. This type of reverse, with the cross from which the alpha and omega hang, is well known in Merovingian coinage, without it being possible to link it to a particular workshop, let alone to a specific region.

Molte monete merovingie, coniate male, con epigrafia molto scarsa o poco esplicita, non possono essere attribuite ad una particolare zecca. Le monete troppo rare purtroppo hanno lo stesso problema. Le attribuzioni essendo basate su opere spesso antiche, una moneta all'epoca sconosciuta avrà spesso difficoltà ad essere attribuita, a meno che non sia possibile leggere la zecca o trovare il nome della zecca e confrontarla con la sua produzione nelle officine dove coniava monete ....
