Agréable monnaie sur un flan un peu court, avec une belle patine sombre. Droit et revers bien identifiables, de frappe vigoureuse, avec des reliefs finement détaillés

Diritto

Titolatura diritto : ANÉPIGRAPHE.

Descrittivo diritto : Tête barbare, très stylisée à droite, les cheveux hirsutes ; le croissant principal est entouré d’un cordon perlé ; un annelet devant la bouche.

Rovescio

Titolatura rovescio : ANÉPIGRAPHE.

Descrittivo rovescio : Annelet entouré d’une croisette, de trois globules, d’un V pointé et d’un I pointé, posés aux quatre coins ; l’ensemble dans un carré perlé ; un T bouleté et renversé à droite.

Commento

Cette variété F est caractérisée par la présence d’un cordon perlé qui entoure le croissant autour duquel se construit la tête. L’exemplaire E212 publié par T. Abramson correspond à notre exemplaire, mais nous n’avons retrouvé aucune monnaie de ce type avec les mêmes ornements au revers.

La plupart des revers connus sont repris par D. M. Metcalf dans le catalogue du musée d’Oxford mais ce revers précis n’y est pas illustré pour la variété F.
This F variety is characterized by the presence of a pearl cord that surrounds the crescent around which the head is constructed. The E212 example published by T. Abramson corresponds to our example, but we have not found any coin of this type with the same ornaments on the reverse. Most of the known reverses are listed by DM Metcalf in the Oxford Museum catalogue, but this specific reverse is not illustrated there for the F variety.
