Descrittivo rovescio : Couronne de fleurs entourant une légende gravée en 3 lignes.
Commento
La médaille fut décernée d’abord aux parents puis probablement à leur fille ensuite. Au revers figure le monogramme des époux : GJ et AG. Sur la tranche sont gravés les noms de leur fille et de son mari : Jeanne Jacob et Henry Urguet de St Ouen. Par ailleurs, vu le poinçon visible sur la tranche (lampe) et les fortes rayures au revers, il est possible que la médaille ait été utilisée plus tôt pour un troisième mariage (avant les deux figurant encore au revers et sur la tranche).
The medal was first awarded to the parents and then probably to their daughter. On the reverse is the monogram of the spouses: GJ and AG. On the edge are engraved the names of their daughter and her husband: Jeanne Jacob and Henry Urguet de St Ouen. AMOUR ET MARIAGE
In passato era consuetudine dare un treizain durante la messa nuziale. Questo treizain era benedetto e significava l'ingresso in una comunione dei beni per la coppia sposata. Il treizain, divenuto poi medaglia o pegno nuziale, era così chiamato in onore di Gesù Cristo e dei dodici apostoli. Questa pratica è continuata fino alla prima metà del XX secolo. L'opera di riferimento sull'argomento è l'opera di Jules Florange, Amore e matrimonio in numismatica, Moulins, 1936 ora sostituita da quella di Henri Térisse, La Numismatique du Mariage, Argenton-sur-Creuse 2008.
