Flan relativement large pour ce type. Frappe un peu molle et confuse des deux côtés, avec un coin de revers défectueux. Sinon, bon centrage et métal de qualité

Commento

Ce statère appartient à la deuxième phase du monnayage ambien ; les flans ont tendance à être plus étroit et à s’épaissir, mais les monnaies sont toujours bifaces, avec une tête stylisée au droit.
Avec ce style de droit, cette monnaie se rapproche de certaines monnaies du même type, mais frappées outre-Manche. Ces statères ont été largement exportés vers les côtes anglaises ; certains furent frappés sur place, et ensuite importées en France au gré du commerce....
This stater belongs to the second phase of the Ambian coinage; the flans tend to be narrower and thicker, but the coins are always two-sided, with a stylized head on the obverse. With this obverse style, this coin is similar to some coins of the same type, but struck across the Channel.
