Ce quart appartient à une très rare série étudiée dès 1977 par Simone Scheers qui dressait le bilan de nos connaissances. Les rares provenances connues sont localisées au nord-est de la Vallée de la Somme et aux confins de la Belgique actuelle. Depuis 1977 nos connaissance n'ont que guère évolué avec un nombre très restreint de nouvelles monnaies connues. Cette variante de la série au bateau présente deux types de portrait ; l'un assez détaillé et l'autre (comme pour notre quart) ne présente qu'une masse ovale avec une sorte de nez pour signifier le profile très stylisé.
This quarter coin belongs to a very rare series studied as early as 1977 by Simone Scheers, who compiled a summary of our knowledge. The few known provenances are located northeast of the Somme Valley and on the borders of present-day Belgium. Since 1977, our knowledge has hardly evolved, with only a very limited number of new coins being discovered. This variant of the boat series features two types of portrait: one quite detailed, and the other (as with our quarter coin) simply an oval shape with a sort of nose to represent a highly stylized profile.

GALLIA BELGICA - MORINI (Regione di La Mancha e della Nord mare)
(II - I secolo a.C.)
I Morin, popolo della Gallia belga, si trovavano in riva al mare tra Étaples e Bruges negli attuali dipartimenti di Pas-de-Calais e Nord per la Francia e nelle regioni delle Fiandre marittime e della Zelanda. I loro vicini erano gli Ambii, gli Atrebati ei Menapi. Hanno partecipato alla coalizione dei popoli belgi nel 57 aC, guidata dai Bellovaques. Fornirono un contingente di venticinquemila uomini. Nel 56 a.C. entrarono a far parte della coalizione marittima dei Veneti. Cesare guidò una spedizione contro Morin e Menapiani che si concluse con un fallimento. Tuttavia, fu da Portus Itius (Boulogne-sur-Mer), situato sul loro territorio, che Cesare si imbarcò per invadere l'isola di Bretagna. Dopo il 54 a.C., Cesare impose l'Atrebate Commios come re ai Morin per ringraziarlo dell'aiuto e del sostegno durante le due spedizioni in Bretagna. Nel 52 a.C., i Morin fornirono un contingente di cinquemila uomini all'esercito di soccorso. Uno dei loro oppida sembra essere stato Taruenna (Thérouanne). Cesare (BG. II, 4; III, 9, 28; IV, 21, 22, 37, 38; V, 24; VII, 75, 76).
