Antioco, associato al padre Seleuco (323-280 dC) dal 293 aC per le satrapie d'Oriente, rimase solo re dopo la sua morte. Ottenne una brillante vittoria contro i Galati nel 273 aC per la quale ricevette il titolo di Soter (il Salvatore). Non poté impedire la sedizione di Filetario che custodiva il tesoro a Pergamo. Gli successe il figlio Antioco II (261-246 d.C.).
