Très beau triens, en or un peu pâle. Droit complet avec une tête bien venue et une légende complète. Au revers, la légende est partiellement hors flan ou en bord de flan. Frappe vigoureuse au droit comme au revers

Descrittivo diritto : Buste diadémé à droite, légende autour.

Rovescio

Titolatura rovescio : ERR :[VM] MRIS.

Descrittivo rovescio : Croix potencée au sommet et fourchée à la base, avec le bras droit fiché sur un globe ; légende autour d’un grènetis et listel autour de la légende.

Commento

L’attribution proposée pour SESEMO ou SESEMVS va à Souhesmes dans la Meuse (selon le Belfort) ou à Souesmes dans le Loir-et-Cher (selon le Prou). L’attribution à la Meuse se base sur les trois exemplaires (BN. 1705, 1706 et 1709) contenus dans la trouvaille de Saint-Aubin, Meuse, publiée par L. Maxe-Werly en 1890 dans la Revue Numismatique.
Ce triens semble bien être une monnaie inédite néanmoins bien intégrée dans cette série plutôt attribuée à Souhesmes !.
The proposed attribution for SESEMO or SESEMVS goes to Souhesmes in the Meuse (according to Belfort) or to Souesmes in the Loir-et-Cher (according to Prou). The attribution to the Meuse is based on the three examples (BN. 1705, 1706 and 1709) contained in the find from Saint-Aubin, Meuse, published by L. Maxe-Werly in 1890 in the Revue Numismatique. This triens seems to be an unpublished coin, nevertheless well integrated into this series rather attributed to Souhesmes!
