Clotaire II, known as the Younger, (Spring 584 † October 18, 629) was king of Neustria from 584 to 613 and king of the Franks from 613 to 629, after the conquest of the kingdom of Austrasia. He is the son of Chilperic I, King of Neustria, and Fredegund. Clotaire II established the royal residence at Clichy-sur-Seine (Hauts-de-Seine). He has many second homes.
Son of Chilperic I and Fredegund, Clotaire II became king of Neustria at the age of four months..
Raised in secret in the royal villa of Vitry in Artois to protect him from a possible assassination, of which his parents believe his deceased brothers were victims, as well as from ambitious people who would take advantage of his death to create a succession conflict, he was not given a name at birth; this was in order not to spread any concern linked to the symbolism of the Merovingian name..
Wanting to choose a godfather based on the progress of the troubles that were shaking the kingdom of the Franks, his father did not have him baptized immediately..
In September 584, Chilpéric I was assassinated near his villa in Chelles, probably on the orders of Queen Brunhilde, after a hunting trip. For the rest of his biography, see http://fr. Wikipedia. org/wiki/Clotaire_II
