Commento
Poids léger. Sur cet exemplaire pourtant de flan large, les trois globules ne sont pas visibles derrière la tête. Le poids est relativement lourd par rapport à ceux normalement relevés, autour de 4 grammes. M. Crawford signale seulement quatre exemplaires pour cette variété d’après la collection du Cabinet des médailles de la BnF et au British Museum, trois exemplaires, signalés comme très légers.

Questo periodo è segnato dalla Terza Guerra di Macedonia (171-168 aC) che si conclude con la grande vittoria di Pidna (168 aC) e la sconfitta di Perseo che perde il trono e la libertà. Paul Émile, il suo conquistatore, vende 150.000 greci come schiavi. Il Tributo è abolito, i Romani sono esentati dalle tasse. La Macedonia è divisa in quattro repubbliche e l'Illiria in tre protettorati. Gli Epiroti sono ridotti in schiavitù, gli Achei deportati in Italia. Polibio si ritrova a Roma. La Repubblica si oppone anche ad Antioco IV di Siria (175-164 aC). Nel 164 aC l'Urbs contava 337.452 cittadini. Nel 161 aC i filosofi e i retori greci furono espulsi da Roma. La fine di questo periodo è segnata dalla morte di Terenzio (159 a.C.) e dalla nascita di Mario (155 a.C.).
