Monnaie fragmentaire, suite à un coup de buron porté de façon oblique sur le portrait. Frappe vigoureuse, mais avec de petits coups (de burin ?) au droit et une trace de torsion au revers

Commento
Ce triens a les caractéristiques typiques du monnayage d’or mérovingien ; tête au droit et croix au revers. Les légendes, très fragmentaires, rendent difficile une quelconque attribution.
Un élément particulier est cependant à signaler ; le sommet de la croix est engagé dans un demi-cercle. D’après nos recherches, cette caractéristique est rare, mais attestée sur quelques triens d’origines variées (Foix, Agen, Sées et Pfalzel en Allemagne. Ces quatre exemples ne permettent pas d’attribuer cette spécificité à une région particulière....
This triens has the typical characteristics of Merovingian gold coinage: head on the obverse and cross on the reverse. The very fragmentary legends make any attribution difficult. One particular element should be noted, however: the top of the cross is engaged in a semicircle. According to our research, this characteristic is rare, but attested on a few triens of varied origins (Foix, Agen, Sées and Pfalzel in Germany). These four examples do not allow us to attribute this specificity to a particular region...

Molte monete merovingie, coniate male, con epigrafia molto scarsa o poco esplicita, non possono essere attribuite ad una particolare zecca. Le monete troppo rare purtroppo hanno lo stesso problema. Le attribuzioni essendo basate su opere spesso antiche, una moneta all'epoca sconosciuta avrà spesso difficoltà ad essere attribuita, a meno che non sia possibile leggere la zecca o trovare il nome della zecca e confrontarla con la sua produzione nelle officine dove coniava monete ....
