In 1859, the Lombard-Venetian Kingdom, the name given to the Austrian possessions in Italy, was amputated from Lombardy. In 1866, the Austrian troops were definitively defeated. The northeast of the country, including Veneto, was definitively attached to the Kingdom of Italy, ruled by the House of Savoy.

Il Regno Lombardo-Veneto è uno stato dipendente dall'Impero austriaco. Fu creato al Congresso di Vienna del 1815 dopo la caduta di Napoleone I e del Regno d'Italia da lui instaurato. Questo regno riunisce i possedimenti austriaci in Italia. Fu progressivamente amputato dal Regno di Sardegna nell'ambito dell'Unità d'Italia e scomparve nel 1866 quando la provincia di Mantova fu annessa al Regno d'Italia..
