Le monnayage français du comptoir de Mahé qui fut frappé à Pondichéry comprend plusieurs dénominations : quart, demi et biche de Mahé en cuivre et des fanons d'argent. Le fanon de Mahé était plus lourd que celui de Pondichéry. Il fallait cinq fanons pour faire une roupie à Mahé contre six à Pondichéry..
The French coinage from the Mahé trading post, which was struck in Pondicherry, included several denominations: quarter, half, and Mahé doe coins made of copper, and silver baleen. The Mahé baleen coin was heavier than that of Pondicherry. It took five baleen coins to make one rupee in Mahé, compared to six in Pondicherry.
