Descrittivo diritto : Buste diadémé, drapé et cuirassé de Gratien à droite, vu de trois quarts en avant (A'a) ; diadème perlé.
Traduzione diritto : “Dominus Noster Gratianus Pius Felix Augustus”, (Notre seigneur Gratien pieux heureux auguste).

Rovescio

Titolatura rovescio : INCUS.

Commento

Poids léger. Les frappes incuses sont rares au IVe siècle. Normalement, d’après le style, ce nummus est attribuable à l’atelier de Siscia.

GRAZIANO

(24/08/367-25/08/383)

Nato nel 359, Gratien fu nominato Augusto all'età di 8 anni. Divenuto "Senior Augustus" dopo la morte dello zio nel 378, dovette condividere il potere con il fratellastro Valentiniano II e scelse Teodosio per assisterlo in Oriente. Nel 378 fece rimuovere dalla sala del senato la statua della Vittoria, un riferimento pagano ai suoi occhi. Dopo la rivolta di Magnus Maximus, fuggì ma fu assassinato a Lione il 25 agosto 383..
