Eudes I, conte di Blois e Chartres, successe a Thibaut I il Baro (957/960-975/978). Si impadronì della contea di Dreux e dovette combattere contro Hugues Capet. Alla sua morte la sua eredità fu divisa tra i figli Thibaut II (996-1004), conte di Chartres ed Eudes II, conte di Blois (996-1004), poi di Chartres (1004-1037).
