BLOIS ET LE BLAISOIS
La città di Blois era nel IX secolo la sede della contea di Robert le Fort. Thibaut de Chartres se ne impossessò durante il regno di Carlo il Semplice e la contea rimase ai suoi discendenti fino al 1391, quando la contea fu venduta a Luigi I di Francia, duca d'Orléans. Suo nipote, Luigi XII, salendo al trono, unisce la contea alla Corona. Residenza prediletta dei Valois, il suo castello fu ricostruito e ampliato nel corso dei secoli XVI e XVII. Vi si tennero gli Stati Generali nel 1576 e nel 1588, famosi per l'assassinio del Duca di Guisa. Il governo vi si rifugiò nel 1814. Blois è oggi la capitale del dipartimento di Loir-et-Cher.
