Commento
Cet exemplaire est celui de MONNAIES 25, n° 632. Pour ce revers au sanglier, qui constitue le Type IV du Nouvel Atlas, il y a deux symboles différents entre les jambes du cheval ; une croisette, comme sur cet exemplaire, et un annelet.

GALLIA - BITURIGES CUBI (Regione di Bourges)

Il territorio dei Bituriges Cubes si estendeva su parte di Bourbonnais, Touraine e Berry. La loro capitale era l'oppidum di Avaricum (Bourges). La Loira li separava dagli Edui e dai Carnuti. Nel 52 aC sostennero Vercingetorige che li spinse a praticare la tecnica della terra bruciata. Distrussero così più di venti oppida, ma rifiutarono la stessa sorte alla loro capitale, Avaricum (Bourges). Cesare venne ad assediare l'oppidum, difeso da trentamila Biturigi e diecimila alleati. La città fu presa e data alle fiamme, solo ottocento soldati riuscirono a fuggire, mentre la guarnigione e la popolazione furono massacrate. Tuttavia, i Biturigi avrebbero comunque fornito un contingente di dodicimila uomini all'esercito di soccorso della coalizione gallica, durante l'assedio di Alesia. All'inizio del 51 a.C., Cesare guidò una nuova campagna tra i Biturigi che si sottomisero molto rapidamente..
