Cette exposition a ouvert ses portes le 1er août 1888 et a clôturé le 31 janvier 1889.
La Centennial international Exhibition a été organisée pour célébrer un siècle de colonisation européenne en Australie. Le bâtiment de l'exposition, construit en 1880 pour l’Exposition internationale de Melbourne, a été prolongé et réutilisé.
La Centennial international Exhibition s’est concentrée sur l’Australie elle-même, et a mis l'accent sur la musique et la peinture qui ont attiré de nombreux visiteurs. Cependant, l'exposition n’a pas été reconnue par le Bureau of International Expositions (BIE) en tant qu’Exposition Universell.
Medal awarded on the edge with the intaglio legend T. LOBRICHON. This exhibition opened on 1 August 1888 and closed on 31 January 1889. The Centennial International Exhibition was organized to celebrate a century of European settlement in Australia. The exhibition building, built in 1880 for the Melbourne International Exhibition, was extended and reused. The Centennial International Exhibition focused on Australia itself, and emphasized music and painting, which attracted many visitors. However, the exhibition was not recognized by the Bureau of International Expositions (BIE) as a World's Fair.
