GALLIA - AULERCI CENOMANI (Regione di Mans)

Gli Aulerci sono un popolo molto numeroso che si suddivide in tre grandi tribù, tra cui gli Aulerci Cenomani che si trovavano a sud-est degli Aulerci Diablintes (bacino della Mayenne), nell'attuale dipartimento della Sarthe. La loro città in epoca gallo-romana, Vindunum, perpetua il loro nome sotto forma di Le Mans. Nel 52 a.C. fornirono un contingente di cinquemila uomini all'esercito di soccorso di Vercingetorige, assediato ad Alesia. Cesare (BG. VII, 75). Kruta: 72, 187, 266.
