Exemplaire sur un petit flan parfaitement centré des deux côtés. Très beau portrait, de haut relief. Frappe un peu molle au revers, cependant bien visible. Recouvert d’une jolie patine grise avec des reflets dorés

Titolatura diritto : ANÉPIGRAPHE.

Descrittivo diritto : Tête d'Athéna à droite, coiffée du casque attique à cimier, orné d'un griffon bondissant à droite surmontant un quadrige.

Rovescio

Descrittivo rovescio : Chouette debout à droite, la tête de face sur une amphore couchée à droite, dans le champ à gauche, un foudre posé verticalement.

Commento

Mêmes coins que l’exemplaire de l’American Numismatic Society provenant de “l’Attic Hoard” (IGCH. 250) le seul trésor important pour les monnaies divisionnaires qui contenait 9 tétradrachmes et 178 drachmes du nouveau style, enfoui entre 155 et 150 avant J.-C. selon Margaret Thompson et vers 120 avant J.-C. selon Lewis. Ce trésor ne contenait qu’une drachme de notre type aujourd’hui à l’ANS (cf. NSSCA. n° 411b, pl. 41). Deux autres exemplaires sont signalés au musée de Gotha et d’Athènes.
Same dies as the American Numismatic Society specimen from the “Attic Hoard” (IGCH. 250), the only significant hoard for fractional coins, which contained 9 tetradrachms and 178 drachms of the new style, buried between 155 and 150 BC according to Margaret Thompson and around 120 BC according to Lewis. This hoard contained only one drachm of our type now at the ANS (cf. NSSCA. no. 411b, pl. 41). Two other specimens are reported in the museums of Gotha and Athens
